Whatever the thing was, Demon or Impure Spirit, it was a nasty piece of work. It used to throw its host (the boy) into Fire or Water. Elias (Eljah) is associated with Fire (The Fiery Chariot to Heaven). Moses is associated with Water.

Shin, Aleph & Mem: The Three Primary Letters of The Hebrew alphabet
The three primary letters of the Hebrew alphabet are Shin, Aleph and Mem. These letters, are the three Horizontal Lines in The Tree of The Sephiroth. They are Elijah, Jesus (A for Adam and Aleph) and Moses.
These three lines are the lines between the stumps on a Cricket Pitch. These three lines are the three times Jesus crossed the East-West centreline dividing the South and North, Male and Female, halves of Jerusalem on the day of His Execution.
