καὶ οὐδὲν ἀδυνατήσει ὑμῖν

And NOTHING will be impossible for You!

And nothing will be impossible for you (Matthew 17: 20)

Jesus’ STUNNING Words

The Greek words at the top of this page came from Jesus. They are STUNNING in their implications.

Jesus in Egypt

The “Church-Christian” version of Jesus’ exile in Egypt is based on ideas that are little more than “fantasy”.

Alexander The Great and a University

Alexander The Great was more than a General, a King, and a conqueror. He was also superbly educated. He valued education and learning/

After Alexander conquered Egypt, he set up what was effectively a “Research University” in Alexandria. He collected what was probably the world’s greatest library. Scholars from all over the world came to Alexandria to teach and study.

CONTRARY TO CHRISTIAN FANTASY, Mary the mother of Jesus, was not some Galilean version of Cinderella, happily scrubbing floors for her relatives as an uneducated teenager.
“Maria” (Miriam) was identified as a likely mother of the coming Messiah. She was educated “to the max” so that she would be able to train and educate him. Her marriage was an arranged marriage.

Her husband was slected for her. He was selected to be what was “needed”, i.e. a superb Torah scholar with decades of training and education. Why? So that he, like Maria, could educate the Messiah. His expertise as a Mason/Builder (carpenter) was just his “day job”.

All those (Jewih) plans for the family of the coming Messiah took a huge hit when Miriam was found to be pregnant before the wedding. Some groups rejected Maria/Miriam totally, and her first born son. That “opposition” lasted all of Jesus’ life. The Jewish leadership did not want Jesus. They regarded Him as an illegitimate child.

All of that is just “background”. The point (for now) is that Joseph, Jesus’ step-father, was more a professor than a humble village carpenter. His wife, Maria, was one of the most educated women in history. She was, like her husband, like her son, a superb Torah scholar.

So where did they “hide out” when they fled Herod’s attempts to murder Jesus when He was an infant/toddler.

The most likely place for them to have hidden was the research university in Alexandria.

They would have blended in, just another “Jewish academic” and family “on campus”. The interaction between Greek scholars and Torah scholars began in Solomon’s days. The Greeks have given little credit to their Torah sources. But the interaction had been on-going for almost 1000 years when Jesus was a child.

The result of Jesus spending His early years on a Greek speaking university?:
Jesus grew up with Greek as one of His “first languages”.

Jesus spoke Greek fluently. When Jesus said that nothing would be impossible, HE MEANT IT! The words at the top of this post, the Greek words, really ARE what Jesus said !

Knowledge is important – Abraham’s life, Moses’ life and Jesus’ life — all three lives are testament to the importance of “Discipleship” – being disciplined students.

But Jesus clearly valued faith greatly. He HAMMERED the importance of faith in the Gospel accounts. And we have Jesus’ words, as He used them when He was teaching in Greek.

Words and Faith are important.
